Hospital visits
Elmvale Veterinary Hospital is open Monday to Friday between the hours
of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m as well, we are open late Tuesday and
Thursdays until 7:00 pm. Saturdays we are open between the hours of 8:30
a.m. and 1:00 p.m. We are closed on Sundays and holidays. All hospital
visits are scheduled by appointment only and normally begin daily at
9:00 a.m. Surgeries or animals being admitted into the hospital should
arrive between 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. Animals arriving for surgeries,
sedation, anaesthetics and or blood tests must be fasted. If your pet is
scheduled for surgery or an anaesthetic it must have no food after 6:00
pm and no water after midnight the evening before the procedure. To
prevent waiting or upsetting our schedules please ensure that you check
in with the front desk immediately upon arrival. At this time we also
ask that you let us know of any samples (such as feces or urine) that
require testing. Emergencies or unforeseen conditions may interrupt
appointment times but the delay will be no longer than absolutely
necessary. If you are visiting Elmvale Veterinary Hospital for the first
time, we suggest that you complete the New Client Information Form
(available below) before your appointment. Please print and fill out
this form and give it to our receptionist upon arrival.

our fees with us prior to treatment or hospitalization and also note
that an estimate is always available for you upon request. We normally
require a deposit for hospitalized animals. We accept payments of cash,
Interac (debit), Visa, MasterCard and we accept Medcard payment plans.
We do not and can not accept cheques of any kind.
Pets in the Hospital
To minimize the chances that your pet will contract an infectious
disease during its stay in the hospital we strongly recommend that he or
she be up to date on all vaccinations. We encourage you to visit your
pet when it is hospitalized but please call us first to let us know you
are coming. If you are calling for an update on a hospitalized pet
please call after 10:00 am.
Waiting Room Safety
All pets must be leashed or in a carrier at all times. To prevent
unnecessary injuries pets should also be restrained at all times while
in the exam rooms.
